The Center for Gender and Sexuality at Wayne State University brings together research, teaching, student services, community engagement, and activism related to gender and sexuality, in keeping with the values and priorities of the University.

Our vision

The Center for Gender and Sexuality will accomplish its mission and service to students, scholars, and the campus community by:

  • Incubating and encouraging feminist and queer research and academic inquiry
  • Providing cutting-edge curriculum in gender, sexuality, feminist, LGBTQIA+, and trans studies
  • Fostering rich and relevant critical conversations about gender and sexuality among students, scholars, and community members, centering interdisciplinarity and intersectionality
  • Offering academic, social, and advisory resources related to queer and feminist campus climate
  • Advancing, supporting, and celebrating multicultural and intersectional identities
